After so many years of progress raising the bar of dignity, honor and respect for every American citizen, it is sad to see a regression to the hate filled days of the past.

The party of Abraham Lincoln it seems is turning into the party of John Wilkes Booth.

I do have to give McCain credit for taking the microphone from the ignorant woman who called Senator Obama an Arab. That was the right thing to do and I applaud him for it. Free speech is one thing, but slander and innuendo are another thing altogether.

  2. African Americans have watched this unfold in horror and disbelief. My mother and I both had similar responses, a cold chill and a sick feeling in the pit of our stomaches. Many of us were dissapointed when a recent poll indicated that as many as 40% of whites had negative feelings about blacks. However, to see this display of blatant racism expressed so freely in a white crowd took us back to other times we would rather forget. Palin’s smile was a chilling sight. I immediately began to email various news producers when I saw panels of white guess and broadcasters brush this off as hardball politics. Ofcourse, we have fears about the Obama’s safety, but we also recognize that the racist views inflamed by McCain/Palin will linger long after November. McCain’s feeble attempts to correct the situation seem too little too late and too convenient.
